Yannis Markopoulos was a Greek composer born on March 18, 1939, in Heraklion, Crete. He studied at the Athens Conservatory under composer Yiorgos Sklavos and violinist Joseph Bustidui. Markopoulos was known for his ability to blend symphonic and traditional Greek instruments, evident in his unique orchestra "Palintonos Armonia." Notable works include "Piano Concerto ('Shapes in Motion')," "24 Pyrrichioi Dances," and "Triptych for Flute, Strings and Harp." He passed away on June 10, 2023, in Athens.
