Yannis & The Yaw is a musical project founded by Yannis Philippakis, the frontman of the British indie rock band Foals. The project originated in 2016 in Paris during a two-day recording session with legendary Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen. This collaboration resulted in the EP "Lagos Paris London," released on August 30, 2024. The EP features five tracks blending Afrobeat elements with indie rock. Following Allen's passing in 2020, Philippakis completed the project as a tribute to his legacy. In 2025, they released the live album "Onstage," capturing the energy of their live performances.
