Yosuke Yamashita Trio is a Japanese jazz group formed in 1969 by pianist Yosuke Yamashita. The group is known for its energetic and freely improvised style, which influenced the free jazz scene in Japan. Notable albums include "Clay" (1974), "Kurdish Dance" (1992), and "Spider" (1996). The trio performed at international jazz festivals, including Montreux and Newport, and collaborated with artists such as Manfred Schoof and Joe Lovano. Yosuke Yamashita received several awards, including the Fumio Nanri Award in 1990 and the Purple Ribbon Medal from the Japanese government in 2003.
