empty cell Young Marble Giants
Young Marble Giants were a Welsh post-punk band formed in 1978 in Cardiff. The group consisted of vocalist Alison Statton and brothers Philip and Stuart Moxham. Their minimalist sound, characterized by simple bass lines and rhythmic guitar, contrasted sharply with the more aggressive punk of the era. In 1980, they released their sole studio album, "Colossal Youth," on Rough Trade. Despite their brief existence, they influenced numerous artists, including Kurt Cobain and Belle & Sebastian. After disbanding, members pursued various musical projects; Stuart Moxham formed The Gist, while Alison Statton continued with the band Weekend.
