Yusef Lateef was an American jazz multi-instrumentalist and composer, known for his innovative blending of jazz with "Eastern" music. He played tenor saxophone, flute, oboe, and other instruments. His 1962 album "Into Something" is considered a hard-bop classic. In 1987, he won a Grammy Award for his album "Yusef Lateef's Little Symphony". He was also recognized as an educator and author.
