Zdeněk Svěrák is a Czech dramatist, screenwriter, actor, and lyricist. In 1967, he co-founded the Jára Cimrman Theatre with Ladislav Smoljak, writing and performing numerous plays together. As a screenwriter, he is known for films like "Vesničko má středisková" and "Kolja," which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1996. He also collaborated with composer Jaroslav Uhlíř on popular songs. In 1994, he founded the Paraple Center, an organization supporting individuals with spinal cord injuries.
