Anita Carter was an American singer and songwriter, known for her pure soprano voice and as a member of the Carter Family. Born on March 31, 1933, in Maces Spring, Virginia, she achieved success in 1951 with duets alongside Hank Snow, including "Down the Trail of Achin' Hearts" and "Bluebird Island". In 1962, she recorded "Love's Ring of Fire", later popularized by Johnny Cash as "Ring of Fire". In 1968, she had a hit with "I Got You" alongside Waylon Jennings. Carter was also a songwriter, co-writing Johnny Cash's "Rosanna's Going Wild". She passed away on July 29, 1999, in Hendersonville, Tennessee.
