Annie Ross was a British-American jazz singer and actress, best known as a member of the influential vocal trio Lambert, Hendricks & Ross. In 1952, she wrote lyrics for Wardell Gray's "Twisted," contributing to the development of the vocalese style. With the trio, she recorded seven albums between 1957 and 1962, including "Sing a Song of Basie" and "The Swingers!" In 1959, she released "Annie Ross Sings a Song with Mulligan!" with baritone saxophonist Gerry Mulligan. In 2010, she was honored as a Jazz Master by the National Endowment for the Arts.
