Babes in Toyland was an American rock band formed in 1987 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The group consisted of vocalist and guitarist Kat Bjelland, drummer Lori Barbero, and bassist Michelle Leon, who was replaced by Maureen Herman in 1992. They released three studio albums: "Spanking Machine" (1990), "Fontanelle" (1992), and "Nemesisters" (1995). Their second album, "Fontanelle," was their most commercially successful, selling approximately 220,000 copies in the United States. The band was known for their raw sound and was often associated with the riot grrrl movement, though the members rejected this association. The band disbanded in 2001, reunited from 2014 to 2017, and officially ended their activities in 2020. The products available from the artist Babes in Toyland include CDs.
