Beirut is an American indie folk project founded in 2006 by Zach Condon in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The music blends elements of indie rock, Balkan folk, and world music. Their debut album, "Gulag Orkestar," was released in 2006, followed by "The Flying Club Cup" in 2007 and "The Rip Tide" in 2011. In 2025, they released "A Study of Losses," created for the Swedish circus Kompani Giraff and inspired by Judith Schalansky's novel.
