Bill Orcutt's album "The Anxiety of Symmetry" is the final installment of a trilogy that began with "Pure Genius" (2020) and "A Mechanical Joey" (2021). Created using his own Cracked software, this album features two 15-minute improvisations based on six samples of female voices singing numbers corresponding to the first six notes of the major scale. These phrases are layered and looped, creating complex polyrhythms and harmonies. The result is a hypnotic experience reminiscent of minimalist works by Philip Glass and Brian Eno. The album was released on May 30, 2025.
