'Crossings' is the tenth studio album by jazz pianist Herbie Hancock, released in 1972. This album represents the second part of his experimental Mwandishi trilogy, where Hancock expands his sextet to a septet by adding Patrick Gleeson on Moog synthesizer. 'Crossings' is known for its avant-garde style, blending electronic elements with funk jazz to create a unique and innovative sound. The album features three extended tracks, including the nearly 25-minute 'Sleeping Giant', divided into five funky and groovy parts. This album is considered one of the most moving and innovative artistic statements of the modern era.
