'Echoes Across Borders' is an album by clarinetist Thomas Verity and British-Hungarian pianist and composer Michael Csányi-Wills, released on December 6, 2024. The album begins with the Clarinet Sonata by Polish composer Mieczysław Weinberg, followed by a new Clarinet Sonata by Csányi-Wills. Both works incorporate Jewish themes, further explored in Csányi-Wills's Variations on a Ukrainian Theme for bass clarinet and piano, inspired by a recording of a song by a 19-year-old concentration camp prisoner from 1945. The album concludes with a contemporary klezmer interpretation of Weinberg's Rhapsody on Moldavian Themes. This album offers a profound and emotional musical experience, intertwining historical and cultural influences.
