Composer Freya Waley-Cohen's debut album, 'Spell Book', draws inspiration from literature, folklore, and the natural world, characterized by vivid imagery and emotional depth. The title track, 'Spell Book', based on poems from 'WITCH' by Rebecca Tamás, explores the rituals of spellcasting through a series of songs that transform the concert hall into a space of ritual. The album also features 'Conjure', inspired by séances, 'Talisman', examining magical objects, and 'Naiad', a tribute to mentor Oliver Knussen. The release is scheduled for October 25, 2024.
