Arturo "Chico" O'Farrill was a Cuban composer, arranger, and conductor, renowned for his contributions to Afro-Cuban jazz. Born in Havana, he studied at the Juilliard School in New York. O'Farrill collaborated with artists such as Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, and Machito. His notable works include the "Afro-Cuban Jazz Suite" and "Manteca Theme." In the 1990s, he founded the Afro-Cuban Jazz Orchestra, which performed at New York's Birdland club. After his death in 2001, his son, Arturo O'Farrill, took over the leadership of the orchestra.
