Dinah Washington (born Ruth Lee Jones; August 29, 1924 – December 14, 1963) was an American singer and pianist known for her versatility across genres such as jazz, blues, R&B, and pop. Throughout her career, she collaborated with notable musicians, including Lionel Hampton, with whom she sang in his band from 1943 to 1946. Her most renowned recordings include "What a Diff'rence a Day Makes" (1959), which earned her a Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance, and duets with Brook Benton, such as "Baby (You've Got What It Takes)" (1960).
