Earl Hooker was an American blues guitarist renowned for his slide guitar playing. A cousin of John Lee Hooker, he collaborated with artists such as Sonny Boy Williamson II and Junior Wells during his career. Notable albums include "The Genius of Earl Hooker" (1968) and "2 Bugs and a Roach" (1969). His instrumental "Blue Guitar" was later used by Muddy Waters in the song "You Shook Me". Hooker was known for his unique guitar playing style and was considered a "guitarist's guitarist". He passed away in 1970 at the age of 40 after a lifelong battle with tuberculosis.
