Ekseption was a Dutch rock band active from 1967 to 1989, renowned for their instrumental interpretations of classical compositions in a progressive rock style. The band evolved from The Jokers, with trumpeter Rein van den Broek as its only constant member. Their second album, "Beggar Julia's Time Trip" (1969), won the Dutch Edison Award for Album of the Year. Notable works include adaptations of Beethoven's "Fifth Symphony" and Bach's "Air." Throughout their career, they released several albums blending classical music with rock and jazz elements.
