Festival Strings Lucerne is a chamber orchestra founded in 1956 by Rudolf Baumgartner and Wolfgang Schneiderhan. The ensemble comprises seventeen string soloists and a harpsichordist, expandable to a 60-member orchestra for symphonic repertoire. Their repertoire spans from Baroque to contemporary music, having premiered over a hundred works by composers such as Jean Françaix, Frank Martin, and Krzysztof Penderecki. The orchestra regularly collaborates with prominent soloists and releases recordings, including the 2024 album "Eastbound: Schumann, Dvořák, Schreker (Works for String Orchestra)."
