The Hagen Quartett is an Austrian string quartet founded in 1981 in Salzburg by four siblings: Lukas, Angelika, Veronika, and Clemens Hagen. In 1987, Angelika Hagen was replaced by Rainer Schmidt as the second violinist. The quartet is renowned for its extensive repertoire, encompassing works from Haydn to contemporary composers. Notable recordings include the complete cycle of Mozart's string quartets, released in 2006. The Hagen Quartett has received numerous awards, including the ECHO Klassik in 2011 for the album "Hagen Quartett 30." The members serve as educators at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and the Hochschule für Musik in Basel. They plan to conclude their career in 2026.
