İdil Biret is a Turkish concert pianist born in Ankara in 1941. She began her musical education in Paris under the guidance of Nadia Boulanger and Alfred Cortot, graduating from the conservatory with three first prizes at the age of 15. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with renowned orchestras such as the Boston Symphony, Leningrad Philharmonic, and London Symphony. Her extensive discography includes the complete works of Chopin, Brahms, and Rachmaninov, as well as Liszt's transcriptions of Beethoven's symphonies. Biret has received awards including the Grand Prix du Disque Frédéric Chopin in Poland and the Diapason d'Or in France.
