John Fahey was an American guitarist and composer known for his innovative approach to the acoustic guitar. Born in Takoma, Maryland, he is considered a pioneer of the American Primitivism genre. His most notable albums include "Blind Joe Death" (1959), "The Transfiguration of Blind Joe Death" (1965), and "America" (1971). Fahey's music blends elements of folk, blues, and country, often utilizing open tunings and complex fingerpicking techniques. In 1959, he founded the independent label Takoma Records, which released recordings by many other artists. His influence is evident in the work of numerous guitarists and musicians.
