The latest edition of The Hermetic Organ series is a beautiful and evocative tribute to one of John Zorn's greatest mentors, the pioneering West Coast visionary Terry Riley. Recorded at San Francisco's historic Grace Cathedral during the epic concert series in September 2023 celebrating Zorn's 70th birthday, this is one of his most touching and personal organ recitals. The audience included many of the composer's closest and oldest friends, adding a deep spiritual dimension to the music. The spirit of Terry Riley, one of Zorn's early influences and dearest friends, permeates the entire work. Magical!
