Kevin Puts is an American composer known for his orchestral works and operas. Born in 1972 in St. Louis, Missouri, he grew up in Alma, Michigan. He studied composition and piano at the Eastman School of Music and Yale University. In 2012, he won the Pulitzer Prize for Music for his first opera, "Silent Night". His opera "The Hours", based on Michael Cunningham's novel, premiered at the Metropolitan Opera in New York in November 2022. Puts is also a Grammy Award winner for his 2023 work "Contact".
