Lurlean Hunter was an American jazz singer who began her career in Chicago, performing in clubs such as Club DeLisa with Red Saunders. In 1951, she collaborated with the George Shearing Quintet at Birdland in New York City. She recorded four notable albums: "Lonesome Gal" (1955), "Night Life" (1956), "Stepping Out" (1958), and "Blue & Sentimental" (1960). Her style was characterized by jazz and pop influences. In 1963, she became the first African-American performer hired by WBBM radio in Chicago. Her recording career concluded in the mid-1960s.
