MINING is a British music project that released the album 'Chimet' in 2024. This album is the result of sonifying meteorological and sea state data from seven days in October 2017, when Hurricane Ophelia and Storm Brian impacted the British Isles. The group transformed these data into musical parameters, creating a continuous piece of electronic sound design that reflects the progression of these storm systems. The album features improvised performances on piano, cello, and synthesizer, with each of the 504 LP sleeves uniquely timestamped to correspond to a specific 20-minute segment of the storm.
