The Black Dahlia Murder is an American melodic death metal band from Waterford, Michigan, formed in 2001. The band's name is derived from the 1947 unsolved murder of Elizabeth Short, known as the Black Dahlia. As of 2025, the band consists of vocalist Brian Eschbach, bassist Max Lavelle, drummer Alan Cassidy, and guitarist Ryan Knight. They have released ten studio albums, with their latest, "Servitude," released on September 27, 2024. Their fifth album, "Ritual," reached number 31 on the Billboard 200 chart in 2011.
