'Pretaluz', meaning 'blacklight' in Portuguese, serves as an elegiac response to the Angolan Civil War, blending elements of fado, semba, zouk, and morna into unforgettable songs. With dramatic pauses and dynamic vibrato over subtle nylon-string guitar rhythms, Bastos's songs convey profound sorrow and beauty.
