'Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa' is the debut album by Canadian composer and tenor Jeremy Dutcher, set for release on October 20, 2023. This album features unique post-classical arrangements of traditional music from the Wolastoq First Nation. Dutcher, a member of the Tobique First Nation, gained access to wax cylinders from 1907 containing recordings of his ancestors' songs and stories. Through this work, he aims to revitalize the Wolastoq language, now spoken by fewer than 100 people. The album is available on CD in a cardboard sleeve. This groundbreaking project evokes the operatic performances of Rufus Wainwright or the haunting pop of Anohni.
