Description

Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa is the debut album by Canadian composer and tenor Jeremy Dutcher, released on April 6, 2018. This album features post-classical rearrangements of traditional music from the Wolastoq First Nation. Dutcher gained access to wax cylinders from 1907 containing recordings of his ancestors' songs and stories. The album is his contribution to revitalizing the Wolastoq language, which has fewer than 100 native speakers. This unique collection of post-classical arrangements recalls the operatic performances of Rufus Wainwright or the haunting pop of Anohni.
