Hal Galper was an American jazz pianist, composer, and educator. Throughout his career, he collaborated with notable musicians such as Chet Baker, Phil Woods, and Stan Getz. His significant albums include "The Guerilla Band" (1971), "Wild Bird" (1972), "Reach Out!" (1977), and "Now Hear This" (1977). Galper was known for his contributions to the post-bop and jazz fusion genres. In addition to his musical career, he served as an educator at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music and Purchase Conservatory. He passed away on July 18, 2025, in Cochecton, New York.
