Hank Williams was an American singer, songwriter, and musician, regarded as one of the most influential country music artists of the 20th century. During his career, he recorded 55 singles that reached the top 10 of the Billboard Country & Western Best Sellers chart, with 12 reaching number one. His most notable songs include "Lovesick Blues," "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry," and "Your Cheatin' Heart." Williams was born and raised in Alabama, where he learned to play guitar from African-American blues musician Rufus Payne. His music blended elements of country, blues, and gospel, influencing many subsequent artists. After his death in 1953, he was posthumously awarded a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and a Pulitzer Prize for his contributions to music.
