Henry Threadgill is an American composer, saxophonist, and flautist known for his contributions to avant-garde jazz. In 2016, he was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Music for his album "In for a Penny, In for a Pound." Throughout his career, he has led several ensembles, including Air, the Henry Threadgill Sextett, and Zooid. His music is characterized by unconventional instrumental combinations and innovative compositional techniques. Threadgill is also a member of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM).
