"Demon's Dance" is Jackie McLean's final album for Blue Note, concluding his prolific 1960s period. This 1967 post-bop gem features McLean in a quintet with trumpeter Woody Shaw, pianist LaMont Johnson, bassist Scott Holt, and drummer Jack DeJohnette. The album includes dynamic tracks like the title piece "Demon's Dance," Shaw's bossa nova "Sweet Love of Mine," and Massey's "Message from Trane" in tribute to John Coltrane. The October 6, 2023 release is part of the Blue Note Tone Poet series, remastered from the original analog tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl, and packaged in a deluxe gatefold cover.
