'Doin' the Thing' is the only live album by legendary jazz pianist Horace Silver, recorded in May 1961 at the Village Gate in New York City. This album captures the energetic performance of Silver's quintet, featuring trumpeter Blue Mitchell, tenor saxophonist Junior Cook, bassist Gene Taylor, and drummer Roy Brooks. The 180-gram vinyl release, with all-analog mastering by Kevin Gray from the original tapes, offers an authentic hard bop experience.
