The 4 Levels Of Existence was a Greek rock band formed in 1974 in Athens. Emerging from the former band Frog's Eyes, its members included Athanasios Alatas (guitar), Christos Vlachakis (drums), Marinos Yamalakis (bass guitar, vocals), and Nikos Grapsas (guitar, vocals). Influenced by Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, The Who, and Iron Butterfly, as well as traditional Greek music, they recorded their sole album, "The 4 Levels of Existence," in just 10 hours without overdubs, releasing it in 1976 with a limited run of 500 copies. The album is noted for its heavy fuzz guitars and is considered a legend in the heavy-prog scene. Their song "Someday In Athens" was later sampled in "Run This Town" by Jay-Z, Rihanna, and Kanye West.
