Description

Bobby Hutcherson's 1969 album "Medina" showcases his innovative approach to jazz music. Collaborating with Harold Land (tenor saxophone, flute), Stanley Cowell (piano), Reggie Johnson (bass guitar), and Joe Chambers (drums), he created a work that blends post-bop, avant-garde, fusion, and Latin jazz. The album features original compositions by Hutcherson, Cowell, and Chambers, ranging from the energetic rhythms of "Avis" and "Medina" to the atmospheric "Comes Spring" and "Orientale". This Blue Note Tone Poet Series edition was produced by Joe Harley, remastered by Kevin Gray from the original analog tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl at RTI, and packaged in a deluxe tip-on jacket.
