Yellow Magic Orchestra (YMO) was a Japanese electronic music band formed in Tokyo in 1978 by Haruomi Hosono, Yukihiro Takahashi, and Ryuichi Sakamoto. The group was a pioneer in the use of synthesizers, samplers, and sequencers, influencing the development of genres such as synthpop, techno, and hip-hop. Their most notable albums include "Yellow Magic Orchestra" (1978), "Solid State Survivor" (1979), and "Technodelic" (1981). Their track "Computer Game / Firecracker" became an international hit. YMO disbanded in 1984, but the members continued successful solo careers. The band occasionally reunited for various projects and performances.
